I'm feeling a lot more cheerful this morning, now The Dirty Deed is done (ie: admitting defeat, throwing in the towel, wimping out, Admitting I Was Wrong, falling on my sword etc etc) and have transferred back to Blogger!

The deciding factor was finding these two great widgets, which won't add onto WordPress.com (although they will on WordPress.org if you are happy to pay for your template, pay to host it externally, have a Master's Degree in computer stuff plus the patience of a Buddhist priest...).

The first one is the great toolbar right at the bottom of this blog, by Wibiya, where you can add all the links you could possibly want (and choose the toolbar colour from around 30 options). I think it's a great idea.

The second is the gorgeous little Etsy thingie in my sidebar! Designed by Craft Cult, it's small, cute, beautifully designed.

Click on Widgets on the top toolbar, and choose from 8 really attractive (and totally different) layouts - there's sure to be one to suit you! A total MUST HAVE for any Etsy seller.

Great, huh? I'm a happy bunny again (LOVE new toys!)

  2. You know, that's so funny! At work I use wordpress & for that application it's perfect but for what we do here? Blogger kicks massive rump! You've done a nice job pulling it together! I love the widgets!

  3. Don't feel bad. I had to do the same thing. I never could customize like I wanted to and also felt like I needed to take computer classes just to do anything on Wordpress. I am far happier back at Blogger. I feel that my blog is once again my own. Good luck with the switch.

  4. Hi Susie,

Oh, I think the Etsy button thingies are precious..I've been seeing lots of them lately.

And I must go check out the new link thingie bar...

And, YES, some of us MUST have blog toys to play with..I know that's half the fun of playing with my blog. :0) So WP would have really cramped my playtime.

And now for my mental challenge of the day!!! I swear I made it work then got sidetracked a few weeks back..well, anyhow...I'm trying to line up my buttons horizontally in one of my 1200px wide gadgets...I'm placing the button code, hitting the enter key to leave a space below the code then I'm typing &nbsp and spacing down again to leave a blank space to put in the next code.

It's stacking them vertically instead of horizontally!! OMG, this is just so simple of a task. What am I doing wrong?

The funny think is that I did that the last time I had started this process and the same thing happened and somehow I fixed something to make it right but now I'm at a loss again.

If you could just post me a comment here I'll come back to read it.

Thanks, Susie...It's nice to have a "mind" that works and my doesn't happen to be one of them lately...LOL

Ok, I'm off to explore the link bar thingie.

    Hugs,
    Stephanie ♥

  5. Thanks everyone for your support - it's really made me feel better!

STEPHANIE - I can see the problem: the code should have a semi colon after it, like this:

What you've put in isn't registering, and leaving the spaces, Blogger is reading them as line breaks. So you need to make sure you put the code INSTEAD of a line break:
    header code

    header code

etc etc (this will probably read as one long line, but I'm spacing down on each line). Hope that makes sense?

  6. RATS!

    The code didn't show up - just the results! You need to type &nbsp and then the ;

  9. Susie, I just love coming here to see what's new, you're always my source for fun things to try - and for solutions to my boo boos ;)

Your new blog background is AWESOME!! Very nice layering and great colors. Love the way you made the header as part of the background - or is it? Nice effect to span the width of the blog.

If you ever leave Blogspot again you can expect a group spanking! lol
